It's that time of year again, when the Wood River Valley turns into a winter wonderland! With snow on the ground and lights in the trees, the holiday spirit is already filling the air. To take full advantage of the holiday season, be sure to mark your calendar with all the exciting holiday events in the area:

Holiday Tree Lightings 
While the Hailey tree lighting already took place over the weekend, there are still opportunities for families to witness the fun event around the Valley:

Ketchum Holiday Tree Lighting - December 5th starting at 4:30 pm in Ketchum Town Square

Sun Valley Tree Lighting – December 15th at 5:30 pm in Sun Valley Village

Bellevue Tree Lighting – December 14th from 6:00-8:00 pm next to the Bellevue Historical Museum

Holiday Markets
If you are looking to stroll and shop holiday themed decorations, snacks, and more, you have opportunities in both Hailey and Sun Valley:

Hailey Holiday Market - December 7th at 3:00 pm to December 8th at 6:00 pm at The Community Campus

Sun Valley Open Air Holiday Market – December 15th and 16th from 11:00 am–7:00 pm (Tree Lighting at 5:30 pm)


Holiday Music
Music always helps put set a holiday mood, and there are a few exciting concerts you can check out this holiday season in the brand new Argyros Performing Arts Center:

Wood River Orchestra 2018 Holiday Concert - 
December 9th at 4:00 pm at The Argyros (free)

Handel’s Messiah
– December 23rd at 5:30pm at The Argyros

Sun Valley Resort Holiday Events
As a big part of the community, the resort always hosts fun holiday celebrations on both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve:

Sun Valley Christmas Eve Celebration
 – December 24th opens at 3:00 pm, carolers and skating at 5:30 pm followed by the torchlight parade down Dollar Mountain

Sun Valley New Year's Eve Celebration - December 30th 4:00-9:00 pm, party activities including hat decorating and a photobooth, night-skiing, and fireworks


Non-Traditional Holiday Events
If you’re looking for something a little different this holiday season, check out the Winter Solstice party that takes advantage of Central Idaho’s Dark Sky Reserve (the only one in the country!):

Winter Solstice Soiree - December 21st from 3:30-8:00 pm at Ketchum Town Square, enjoy complimentary drinks and snacks while enjoying stargazing (with telescopes!) on the longest night of the year
